Jeffrey Mahmood
MetaMovement Physical Therapy Primary Doctor
Jeffrey is the primary Doctor of Physical Therapy and co-owner of MetaMovement Physical Therapy. Jeffrey completed his BS in Economics from The University of Massachusetts and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions.
A New Jersey native, Jeffrey has been heavily involved in sports his entire life. During college, Jeffrey began developing his understanding of exercise science and the musculoskeletal system to create movement. Jeffrey’s physical therapy training included internships with Spaulding Rehab of Boston, NYU’s Rusk Rehab in New York City, and Fox Rehab in New Jersey, where Jeffrey ultimately transitioned into his initial role as an independent Physical Therapist. It was in this role that Jeffrey was able to hone his practice for the geriatric community and for individuals with medically complex conditions. Jeffrey went on to work with Trinity Rehab as a Lead Physical Therapist where he worked with individuals of all ages from youths to centurions. As an outpatient Physical Therapist, Jeffrey was able to treat conditions spanning the entire body including but not limited to pre and post-surgical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and joint pain, lower back and neck pain, sports injuries, neurological conditions, balance disorders, concussions, overuse and tendonitis conditions, and generalized deconditioning to name a few.
Aside from experiential learning and extracurricular reading, Jeffrey consistently maintains awareness of the latest treatment practices and research. Jeffrey regularly attends educational courses to further his understanding of conditions as well as to refine and learn new skills to apply within his practice. Jeffrey has extensive training on various treatment and manual therapy frameworks including The Institute of Physical Art (IPA), Mulligan Concepts, Maitland Manual Therapy and McKenzie Techniques. Jeffrey regularly deploys his manual skills into his plan of care acknowledging that while exercise and activity is required for long term progress, short term goals may require soft tissue mobilizations or joint manipulations.
In September of 2022, Jeffrey, his wife Sabrina, and business partners John and Joan opened MetaMovement Physical Therapy. Jeffrey and his wife saw the need for a physical therapy clinic that focused on the patients without an overburdened caseload or crowded facility. The goal was to put the “care” back into “healthcare” by increasing patient contact and maximizing the 1-on-1 time for all patients and treatment sessions. The facility also features more than what most traditional physical therapy clinics offer, with an emphasis on full body movements, functional interventions, and ensuring patients are appropriately challenged for the activities they plan to return to. Our motto is “Move More, Live Better”, as our beliefs and treatment philosophies revolve around maximizing movement to maximize the quality of life.
